Fielding Talent
Nurturing artistic talent has been at the heart of hcmf// for the last four decades. Ever since we awarded James Dillon the Young Composers’ Award at our inaugural festival in 1978, we’ve been investing in the future of emerging composers and performers.
Fielding Talent encompasses all of the festival’s strands of talent development activity. Through these projects, we address the specific needs of participating artists, offering opportunities that are relevant to the stage of their career that they’re at and encouraging them to explore their artistic vision.
Talent development involves many different things; along with offering our artists an international platform from which to present their works, we deliver a mentoring programme tailored for each artist, with the entire hcmf// team made available to offer professional advice and support.
Through its large-scale concerts and international audiences, hcmf// is able to provide artists with a formative career moment. We can introduce a composer to new networks, raise the profile of an ensemble, and open up new creative avenues for young music creators. Fielding Talent can be an essential part of an artist’s journey, opening up new destinations.
Details of upcoming talent development opportunities will be published in the news & opportunities section of the website. Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on social media to keep up with the latest updates and opportunities at hcmf//.
