International Showcase

Established to provide a dedicated focus for lesser-known British artists and amplify their presence amongst global audiences, the International Showcase programme ran throughout 2016 and 2017. In an initiative supported by Arts Council and the British Council, hcmf// presented new work and performances by these artists, highlighting musicians working across diverse practices such as free improvisation, lo-fi electronics, avant-jazz, indie-folk, computer-based composition, and notated chamber music.

The International Showcase programme saw these artists take centre stage within the festival programmes; they had the chance to perform in front of invited delegates from international festivals and cultural centres, which substantially raised their profile amongst key people and organisations. As part of the Showcase project, the artists also benefitted from a two-year mentoring programme delivered by the festival.
