Two composers closely associated with hcmf// – Liza Lim and Rebecca Saunders – dominate the shortlist for Chamber-Scale Compositions in this year’s RPS Music Awards.
Australian composer Liza Lim, who is Professor of Composition and Director of CeReNeM at the Music Department of the University of Huddersfield, is nominated for How Forests Think, which received its UK Premiere at hcmf// 2016, performed by ELISION.
Another highlight of hcmf// 2016 was the UK Premiere of Rebecca Saunders’ Skin, part of a rich Klangforum Wien programme, which has also made the shortlist. Rebecca Saunders has previously received two RPS Music Awards.
The RPS Music Awards are recognised as the most prestigious for live classical music in the UK. They celebrate outstanding musical achievement in 2016. The short-list was announced on Tuesday 4 April.
The winners will be announced on Tuesday 9 May.
