We are delighted to be partnering with Kirklees Council to offer exciting music-making opportunities for young people in school years 7-11 (age 11-16). Over the forthcoming Spring Holiday we will be offering two fantastic workshops, both taking place at the University of Huddersfield.

Tue 2 + Wed 3 April: Film Scoring with Sound
Thu 4 + Fri 5 April: Making Music with Games

Our Spring Holiday workshops are comprised of two distinct programmes, each designed to be attended as a two-day course.

Young people are invited to participate in either or both of the programmes. Each programme provides an excellent opportunity to take part in hands-on, creative music-producing experiences led by industry professionals.

We are offering 10 places free of charge for each course for young people in receipt of free school meals, and a handful of places for other high school pupils priced at £10 per course. All places include a hot lunch provided by the University of Huddersfield’s on-campus canteen.

Film Scoring with Sound

A unique opportunity for anyone interested in using sound to create original film scores, led by Mark Williamson. In groups you will experiment with electronic and acoustic instruments to write and record music which will be placed together with short film clips.

No previous experience is required and all equipment will be provided, but if you would like to bring your own instrument to play then please feel free.

Making Music with Games

An exciting chance to explore how to make games out of music and music out of games, led by Helen Papaioannou. You’ll be shown existing ideas and methods as well as being guided in how to compose your own original music using new, creative and fun games.

No previous experience is required and all equipment will be provided, but if you would like to bring your own instrument to play then please feel free.
