Initiated by inventive saxophonist Liudas Mockūnas, Ward – 4 is a brand-new quartet of Vilnius based Lithuanian improvisers. The four members met around 2018 at the Lithuanian Music Academy where Mockūnas and Mikalkėnas were leading classes in the Contemporary and Improvised Music Master’s programme and while Kurtinaitis and Kaupinis were studying with them. A former teacher-student collective naturally grew into a tandem of colleagues sharing a common music language and aesthetics based on deep listening.

In this outing, a low-frequency vibration beckons audiences through myriad curious soundscapes, sometimes calm and other times ebullient.

The project is a part of exchange program between hcmf// and Vilnius Improvised Music Company Improdimensija.
