A duo performance from two members of the daring, decade-old Vilnius ensemble Synaesthesis closes out this year’s hcmf// shorts. ‘Taming the Air’ is an acoustic exploration of wind instruments – based on different musical ideas yet connected into a continuous stream of sound – developed by Arminas Bižys and Simonas Kaupinis together with sound artists/composers Arturas Bumšteinas, Dominykas Digimas and Simonas Nekrošius. In their own words: “the performative aspect of the programme is not important – listeners can keep their eyes closed to be even more attentive to the sounds and let themselves be immersed into their own images”.
