Marie Schreer performs the World Premiere of a new work she has commissioned from Iranian composer Ashkan Behzadi, as part of her current solo violin project interrogating notions of home and belonging. The composition sets a poem by British-Bahraini poet Taher Adel interpreting ‘home’ through six Arabic translations, drawing inspiration from global displacement, immigration and Adel’s personal heritage. Behzadi’s work is dedicated to children who have lost their home or life during the current conflict in Palestine and Israel. For this premiere, Schreer will be joined on stage by Adel who will recite excerpts from the poem as part of this performance.
