hcmf// 2024 Composer in Residence Lina Lapelytė’s performance-based practice is rooted in music, flirting with pop culture, gender stereotypes and nostalgia. Her works engage with trained and untrained performers, often in an act of singing, across a wide range of genres from mainstream music to opera. Here she sits down with BBC Radio 3 presenter and writer Kate Molleson to guide us through her work, and the sights and sounds that we can expect to experience as part of her programme at this year’s festival.

Produced by hcmf// supported by Lithuanian Culture Institute and Music Information Centre Lithuania; also supported by Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation
