Performing at hcmf// for the first time under Artistic Director Graham McKenzie’s tenure, Ensemble intercontemporain presents a concert that reflects their extensive range. Alternating solo instrumentalists with large ensemble works, the programme includes Franck Bedrossian’s Le Lieu et la formule, inspired by a poem by Rimbaud; Soliloquy VII, the seventh in a series of intriguing instrumental soliloquies by Thomas Simaku; and, last but not least, two recent works by hcmf// Composer in Residence Lisa Streich, a rising star of her generation whose work cultivates poetic sound worlds that are both delicate and disturbing.

Produced by hcmf// supported by STIM in collaboration with Stim Forward Fund, Export Music Sweden, Västra Götalandsregionen, the Swedish Composers Society (FST) and the Embassy of Sweden; also supported by Diaphonique, Franco-British fund for classical contemporary music and the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation

OFELIA is co-commissioned by Ensemble intercontemporain, Ircam-Centre Pompidou & Collegium Novum Zürich
