We are excited to offer six UK-based artists interested in creating contemporary musical theatre and performance the opportunity to take part in a workshop led by Opera Aperta’s Roman Grygoriv and Illia Razumeiko, exploring the topic: ‘How to make opera in the 21st century?’
Grygoriv and Razumeiko’s critically acclaimed CHORNOBYLDORF. Archaeological opera in seven novels opened hcmf// 2022.
During this day-long programme, Grygoriv and Razumeiko will share their own experiences as music-threatre makers, discussing the diversity of ways to work on and around the stage as well as addressing general perspectives and tendencies on working with folklore and an ethnomusicological approach; extended scenography and composition in space; and management and collaborations, along with other aspects of building a practice in this field.
The selected participants will receive a bursary of £120, and the cost of return travel to Huddersfield will also be covered.
