Time of Music, Finland’s premier festival of new and experimental music, is offering two fantastic learning opportunities from¬†hcmf// 2018¬†performers at its upcoming Summer Academy.

This year’s edition features a masterclass from contemporary performer and flutist Camilla Hoitenga, alongside a lesson in improvisation with pioneering saxophonist and hcmf// mainstay John Butcher.

These unique classes are open to musicians with a wide variety of experience, and Time of Music are excited to “welcome all interested music students and young professionals, both composers and musicians, to deepen their knowledge of the classics of contemporary music and enhance their skills in composition and improvisation”.

Camilla Hoitenga’s extensive experience of collaborating with and performing works of Karlheinz Stockhausen makes her one of chamber music’s key figures, while John Butcher’s place in the UK experimental underground is documented through years of unique collaborative performances and records.

Late applications for the course are being accepted until 31 March 2019. For more information, and to book a place on either course, please visit the Time of Music website.
