Hilda Paredes has won the Ivors Stage Works award for ‘Harriet’, her incredible opera documenting the life of abolitionist and activist Harriet Tubman. The work, co-produced by hcmf//, appeared at the 2018 edition of the festival, and was presented by Muziektheater Transparant. The Ivors Academy credited Paredes with ‘bringing history to life through music’ through the piece, connecting crucial stories about the Underground Railroad.
