hcmf// is pleased to embark on a new, three-year partnership with the Estonian Centre of Contemporary Music (ECCM), providing a spotlight on Estonian creativity at the UK’s largest festival of new and experimental music from next year.
Beginning in 2025, this partnership will grant the opportunity for Estonian composers and musicians to develop networks, form new collaborations and have their works presented on the international stage. Artists from the UK will perform and connect with peers and audiences in Estonia in turn.
Graham McKenzie, Artistic Director of hcmf//, will travel to Tallinn in early November this year to begin his research into the Estonian new and experimental music scene, developing ideas and beginning conversations with artists for future collaborations.
“I am pleased that we are announcing today the partnership between hcmf// and the Estonian Centre of Contemporary Music (ECCM). This exciting collaboration has been in the planning for some time and will bring a rich and diverse variety of Estonian artists, working across all genres of new music to the U.K., while creating new opportunities for British artists to showcase their practice in Estonia.”
– Graham McKenzie, Chief Executive and Artistic Director, hcmf//
“The collaboration with hcmf// is the most important international cooperation project in recent years for the Estonian contemporary music scene. This is a great creative boost and motivation for us. It is indeed a unique opportunity to present the best of Estonian contemporary and experimental music at the leading new music festival and be part of its network.“
– Taavi Kerikmäe, Head of Estonian Centre of Contemporary Music (ECCM)
