Harry Gorski-Brown

Scotland’s Harry Gorski-Brown is an artist working across various mediums, particularly electroacoustic music and audiovisual production and performance. The multi-instrumentalist studied violin performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, though his current practice is focused on fiddle, pipes, live electronics and film. His experimental ventures and performances have featured at Sonica Festival, nonclassical’s Battle of the Bands and Counterflows. He has recently released a tape with Glasgow-based label GLARC, is working on projects as a nonclassical Artist in Residence and a collaboration with French artist/musician Annabelle Playe.

Harry performed as part of the hcmf// shorts programme at the 2023 festival, presenting Fisher Price Pipes – a setting of two Gàidhlig songs from long ago: Sneachd’ Air Drum Uachdar, a song about all the things one would do for love, and Dùthaich MhichAoidh, a song lamenting MacKay Country post-Highland Clearances. These mesmerising works were performed solo with voice, pipes and electronics, accompanied with songs featuring use of the fiddle.
