Edgy Palates’ Queen of the Night album reimagines familiar classical vocal and instrumental works – Mozart’s Queen of the Night, Bizet’s Habanera, Schubert’s Die Forelle – through a strikingly modern lens, transforming these classics with contemporary rhythms, timbres, and vocal techniques drawn from metal, rock, grunge, techno, frenchcore, phonk, and other genres.
Together with the performers, the audience embarks on a unique journey through the enchanted forests of a mythical world evoking renewal, a sense of weightlessness, a merging of simplicity and sophistication, connection, cycles and impermanence, darkness and light, hope, anticipation and healing. Jūra Elena Šedytė, Ieva Parnarauskaitė, and Dainora Aleksaitė – three women, composers and performers – become the mythical beings inhabiting this world, leading listeners through echoing woods toward a magical royal ring.
