Are you between ages 11 and 18? Would you like to write your own music? If so, then Compose It! is for you!
Over five sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your musical creativity by writing your own piece for Riot Ensemble, whose members include some of the top European soloists in new music today.
You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of each instrument being played, develop your own original musical ideas and learn how to take your composition skills to the next level. By the end of the course, you will have a brand-new piece of music that will be performed live on 22 November 2024 as part of Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival!

Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just starting out, Compose It! is perfect for anyone who would love to give composing a try. The only thing we expect from you is to attend all five sessions:
Session 1: Saturday 14 September (11am – 1pm)
Session 2: Saturday 28 September (11am – 1pm)
Session 3: Saturday 19 October (11am – 1pm)
Session 4: Saturday 2 November (11am – 1pm)
Session 5: Saturday 9 November (11am – 1pm)
Concert: Friday 22 November (5pm)
All five sessions will take place on the University of Huddersfield campus.
